Sunil Ahluwalia, Product Line Manager, LAN Access Division, Intel Corporation
Sunil Ahluwalia is product line manager of Intel’s 10 Gigabit Ethernet products. He is responsible for marketing products along with Storage and Security technologies for the Data Center. Ahluwalia has over 12 years of management experience in the software and semiconductor industry during with he held various positions in strategic planning, product marketing, and product development. Prior to his current assignment, Ahluwalia was Strategic marketing manager in the Server platform group; in this capacity he led a cross functional group to develop a server market segmentation model that redefined server product roadmap. Prior to joining Intel in 2000, Ahluwalia served as Director, Professional Services for Trillium Digital Systems, Inc. There he lead the expansion of Trillium’s services business and established an overseas development center in Bangalore, India. Ahluwalia received an MBA from University of Oregon's Charles H. Lundquist College of Business. He also holds a bachelor of technology degree in computer science and engineering from the Institute of Technology in Varanasi, India.

Richard Austin, IT Industry Consultant
Richard is a 30+ year veteran of the IT industry in positions ranging from software developer to security architect. Before beginning a career as an independent consultant, he was focused on technology and processes for successfully protecting the 14PB storage area network infrastructure within the global IT organization of a Fortune 25 company. He earned a MSc degree with a concentration in information security from Kennesaw State University, a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education, and serves as a part-time faculty in their CSIS department where he teaches in the Information Security and Assurance program. He holds the CISSP certification and is an active member of SNIA's Storage Security Industry Forum and Security Technical Working Group. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and also belongs to the IEEE Computer Society, ACM, CSI, HTCIA, ISACA and ISSA (where he also serves on their international ethics committee). He is a frequent writer and presenter on storage networking security and digital forensics. |

Christian Bandulet, Principal Engineer, Sun Microsystems
Christian Bandulet is a Principal Engineer at Sun Microsystems working in Frankfurt, Germany. He is a member of the Sun Data Management Ambassador Group Board which is steering the storage engineering and product development teams at Sun Microsystems. He is also member of Sun's worldwide Storage Technical Field Advisory Board. With over 20 years' IT experience he worked as a soft- and hardware engineer in Germany and in the US. His expertise reaches from UNIX kernel development to database engineering. As an acknowledged industry expert Christian has delivered workshops and presentations at many international conferences. Christian has the reputation for taking complex issues and delivering them in a way that makes them easily understood. Christian has written many blueprints, articles and white papers about advanced storage technologies like object storage and grid storage. Rick Bauer, SNIA Technology & Education Director, Storage Networking Industry Association
Rick serves as Technology and Education Director for the SNIA. He is responsible for the management of all technical and educational initiatives of the association, including standards development, coordination with SNIA member volunteer leadership, interoperability development and testing, as well as technical and educational curriculum development and deployment. Rick manages SNIA’s Technology Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which is part of an ever-expending global SNIA network of technology labs in Japan, China, and India. Rick is a member of many technical and marketing workgroups within the SNIA, including SNIA’s Green Storage Initiative, and is a frequent presenter at SNIA and other technology events worldwide.
Prior to his work at SNIA, Rick served as CIO for several organizations over a 16 year career in technology, involving education, data process, digital imaging, and systems integration. Rick served as founding chair of SNIA’s influential End User Council while serving as CIO for The Hill School, one of America’s leading educational institutions, named “the most wired school in America” by Yahoo’s Internet Life magazine in 2002. Rick has master’s degrees in business and technology management from the Wharton School of Business and the Graduate School of Engineering at The University of Pennsylvania, and has additional master’s degrees from Harvard University and The University of Florida.

Entering into their 14th year of business, itravel200.com's growth continues at a staggering rate and is projected to hit the 500M mark in sales in 2008. Mike's role spans not only the core technology requirements of a 200 employee call center and head-office but several branch offices across Canada, the UK and Mexico. He is responsible for the architecture, and day-to-day of a large technology infrastructure for the entire Travelzest Family including terabytes of data, spread across the organization's offices and data centers. Mike is also responsible for all product development, engineering and online marketing and is enthusiastic about sharing his vast knowledge and experience with the technology community as a whole.

Wendy Betts, Manager, Distributed Systems Storage Management, Hewitt Associates, Former Chair of the SNIA End User Council Governing Board
Wendy Betts is the Manager of the Distributed Systems Storage Management group at Hewitt Associates, a global HR outsourcing and consulting firm. Her responsibilities include all Storage Area Network, Network Attached Storage as well as all of the tape backups in all of Hewitt’s global locations.
Wendy graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Operations Management Information Systems. She also attended Keller Graduate School of Management where she earned her MBA with an emphasis in Finance.
Wendy has worked at Hewitt Associates since 1998, where she started working in the Human Resource Outsourcing area as a systems analyst. She then transitioned to Information Systems and worked as a Financial Analyst to calculate the computer usage charges for end-users. While in this role she was assigned a project to calculate the computer storage costs for the firm, which led her into managing a program to determine the storage strategy for the firm.
Wendy is a member of and former Chair of the SNIA End User Council Governing Board and is a member of several vendor customer executive councils. Wendy spends her time in trying to play golf and going to live theater in her free time.

Since joining EMC in 1998, David has been involved in a variety of strategic technology projects and standards efforts, including leading development and standardization of iSCSI and other IP Storage protocols in the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force). His current activities focus on storage and networking protocols, security, and standardization including leading industry standardization efforts for Fibre Channel security and development of a standard fixed content API for Centera and similar systems. Prior to EMC, David worked on operating system research and development at the Open Software Foundation, which later became The Open Group.

Roger Bouchard has been in the computer industry since 1978 with a wide range of experience from programming, analysis, consulting, education and management. He has taught IT security courses since 1994 and has been focused exclusively on the storage industry since 1996. Prior to joining Brocade in December 2000, he was the Director of Professional Services for the storage practice of a major storage solutions reseller in Canada. Mr. Bouchard has been a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Security for Brocade since 2002 and is currently the Worldwide Security Practice Lead. He has developed and delivered several SAN Security Audits and Hardening engagements across North America and written SAN Security whitepapers. He has received his CISSP certification in 2005 and is an active member of the SNIA (TWG) and the SSIF.

Larry Boucher, Chief Executive Officer, Alacritech
Larry Boucher founder, president and chief executive officer of Alacritech, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in Silicon Valley. Mr. Boucher is a recognized leader in the areas of server adapter, storage and networking technologies. Prior to Alacritech, Mr. Boucher was founder, chief executive officer and a director of Auspex Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of network file servers, where he pioneered the networked file system design that is the basis of today's network-attached storage (NAS) model. Prior to Auspex, he founded Adaptec, Inc. was its CEO for six years, and served as a member of its Board of Directors until 2001. Previously, he was director of design services at Shugart Associates, where he conceived the idea of the SCSI interface and authored its initial specifications.

Before CommVault, Brian held numerous positions in the industry, including director of analyst relations at Interwoven; vice president of software research at SoundView Technology Group; and senior consultant at Gartner Consulting. Brian earned his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from State University of New York at Buffalo. He graduated with distinction from the Masters of Business Administration program at NYU, Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Laura Campbell, Associate Librarian for Strategic Initiatives and Chief Information Officer, Library of Congress
Ms. Campbell was appointed to the position of Associate Librarian for Strategic Initiatives in 2000 by the Librarian of Congress, James H. Billington. He noted that "Laura has already made many significant contributions to the realization of the Library's digital future. Her demonstrated leadership, technical knowledge and network of expert colleagues in the public and private sectors will bring added strength to our decision-making process."
Creation of the position of associate librarian for Strategic Initiatives responds to a recommendation contained within the 2000 National Academy of Sciences report “LC21: A Digital Strategy for the Library of Congress.” Responsibilities of the position include overall strategic planning for the Library, oversight of the Information Technology Services directorate, and leadership of the $100 million National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (www.digitalpreservation.gov), which was established to build a nationwide network of partners to preserve important digital content that is at risk of being lost. Ms. Campbell is also director of the National Digital Library Program, a cooperative national effort to digitize and make available online primary source materials of American history and culture. The program’s award- winning Web site, American Memory (memory.loc.gov), offers more than 11 million items from the collections of the Library of Congress and those of its partners.
Ms. Campbell is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University (B.A., 1973), the University of Maine (M.A. in management, 1979) and Georgetown University (M.S. in accounting, 1983). In 2007, Ms. Campbell was the recipient of the EMC Information Leadership Award from the Computerworld Honors Program.

Mr. Chandler provides insight and analysis for IT professionals, investors, resellers, distributors, ISVs, OEMs and services firms. He delivers forecasts and analyses on storage services segments including storage-related consulting, integration, management and support services. He also focuses closely on the managed storage and online storage services markets. Mr. Chandler launched IDC's storage services research seven years ago. His research has been quoted in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, BusinessWeek and Investor's Business Daily, and he presents regularly at industry events. He has worked in the IT industry for 20 years, first covering the storage industry in 1988 as an editor at PC Week. Mr. Chandler received his M.S. in Reporting on Science and Medicine.

Sheila Childs, Director of Marketing, EMC Corporation
Sheila Childs is a Director of Marketing in EMC’s Information Management Software Group, a worldwide leader in the development and delivery of enterprise storage management solutions. In this position, she focuses on bringing EMC’s archiving and intelligent information management software solutions to market. In addition, Sheila has held technical and management positions in product strategy, product development, product management and customer support/services. She has delivered value-focused storage management software for backup/recovery, HSM, remote device access, device and media management, SAN management and most recently, Information Lifecycle Management (ILM). Sheila has been involved with the Storage Networking Industry Association as a participant in technical working groups, on various committees and as a Board member. She co-chaired the Interoperability Committee from 1999-2001, which has brought successful interoperability demos to a number of Storage Networking World conferences, and initiated the SNIA-Conformance Test Program (SNIA-CTP). She has been active in many initiatives including the startup of the Technology Center and the SNIA Storage Management Initiative. She has been a member of the Board of Directors for four years; her elected positions include a year as Vice Chair and two years as Chairman. She chaired the SNIA Data Management Forum in 2005. |

Dan Cobb is Chief Technology Officer of EMC’s Information Management Software Group (IMSG). In this role, Cobb sets the technical direction and evangelism for EMC’s data protection, file system archiving and data classification software. Prior to his role as CTO, Cobb was part of the EMC IMSG product management team, driving the product strategy of EMC’s data protection software. Cobb joined EMC in 2003, serving as a technology consultant for EMC’s storage platform products – EMC CLARiiON and EMC Celerra.
In 2000, Cobb was a founding team member of Storigen Systems, where he managed system architecture and platform integration for Storigen's inventive content delivery engine, later acquired by EMC. Before Storigen, Cobb was a consulting engineer at Avid Technology, leading emerging technology ventures for Avid's Networks & Storage and Office & Consumer business units.

Richard Coulson, Intel Senior Fellow, Technology and Manufacturing Group, Intel Corporation
Richard Coulson is responsible for the conception, architecture and development of non-volatile memory based enhancements to the computing platform including Robson non-volatile disk cache technology. Couslon also defines, architects and analyzes the performance of emerging storage interfaces and devices. Coulson joined Intel as senior engineer in 1983, promoted to staff engineer in 1987, transferred to BiiN in a joint venture between Intel and Siemens as I/O engineering manager in 1988, became I/O engineering manager for Sequent Computer Systems Inc. in 1989. He rejoined Intel in 1993 as manager of the I/O Achitecture Group, Platform Architecture Labs and was named an Intel Fellow in 1996. Coulson has received 30 patents and holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Colorado, 1980 and master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford, 1983.

Martin (Marty) Czekalski is the Vice President of the SCSI Trade Association Interface & Emerging Architecture Program Manager at Seagate Marty Czekalski brings over twenty years of senior engineering management experience in advanced architecture development for ASICs, memory, and IO subsystem design. He is currently Sr. Staff Program Manager within Seagate's Enterprise Market Development Group. Previous industry experience includes engineering management roles at Maxtor, Quantum and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Czekalski participates in several interface standards committees and industry storage groups. He was an Executive Committee Member and a Founding Member for the Serial Attached SCSI Working Group during its existence as the Serial Attached SCSI founding organization. He currently serves as Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of the SCSI Trade Association. Mr. Czekalski is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Fibre Channel Industry Association, active with the T10 committee and the Trusted Computing Group. He holds twelve storage technology related patents, has submitted nine others and is recognized for driving EMC and the industry to better and broader ways to deal with system interoperability and standardization. Doc is also the author of the Introduction to the Universal Command Guide and is a sought after speaker at many customer and Industry events.
Doc takes a strong leadership position in the development of EMC’s strategy and direction as it pertains to connectivity, interoperability and software & systems integration, enabling time-to-market while reducing support costs associated with product introduction in the field. Andrew Fanara, Team Leader, ENERGY STAR® Product Specifications Development Group, USEPA
Mr. Fanara works on the ENERGY STAR Product Specifications Development Team. ENERGY STAR is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Protection Partnership Division. The ENERGY STAR Program is intended to help businesses and individuals protect the environment by identifying products with superior energy efficiency and water savings.
Mr. Fanara’s team is responsible for writing product specifications and for teaming with manufacturers to encourage the design, manufacture, and sale of products that meet them. More than 50 product categories have been created for the residential and commercial sectors. To date, American consumers have purchased more than 2 billion ENERGY STAR qualified products. In 2006 alone, Americans -- with the help of ENERGY STAR – prevented the emission of 37 million metric tons of greenhouse gases; this is equivalent to the annual emissions from 25 million vehicles and a national savings of $14 billion in energy bills.
Mr. Fanara is currently leading the effort to develop an ENERGY STAR specification for servers. He is also responsible for managing policy coordination with countries using ENERGY STAR in their markets. This includes Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Canada, China, and the European Union; many of which are coordinating with EPA on data center energy efficiency efforts.
Previously in his tenure with the agency, Mr. Fanara worked on the EPA’s Green Lights Program, which assisted commercial enterprises with the implementation of energy-efficient lighting upgrades. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison and has worked for the EPA for more than 10 years.

Tom Georgens has responsibility for all product operations and field operations worldwide. Georgens joined NetApp in October 2005 and served as the company's executive vice president of product operations from January 2007 until February 2008. Previously he served as NetApp's executive vice president and general manager of enterprise storage systems.
Before joining NetApp, Georgens spent nine years at Engenio, a subsidiary of LSI Logic, the last two years as CEO. He also served in various other positions, including president of LSI Logic Storage Systems and executive vice president of LSI Logic. At Engenio, he built the business into a successful OEM storage provider for companies such as IBM, Sun Microsystems, StorageTek, Silicon Graphics, and NCR. William Kramer, Division Deputy and General Manager, National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center
Bill Kramer is the General Manager of NERSC and Head of the High Performance Computing Department at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). The NERSC Facility is the DOE Office of Science "Keystone" computing facility that supports a broad and diverse computational science portfolio. At NERSC, Bill led the acquisition, testing, and introduction of the early, very large HPC computational systems (e.g. IBM SP and Cray systems, one of the first production Linux clusters, and one of the largest open HPSS mass storage systems. He was instrumental in managing the paradigm shift for NERSC from a traditional storage implementation to the one of the first production highly parallel, facility wide file system in the HPC community. He contributes to LBNL's "Science Driven Computer Architecture" initiatives and has helped build 3 efficient computing facilities Bill has taught at two universities, industry and conference on a range of topics, including cluster computing, computer security, computer graphics and visualization, data intensive computing, and high performance computing. Bill’s research interests include large-scale system management, scheduling, performance evaluation, and the integration of high performance networks and computers. He was the General Chair of the SC 05 conference in Seattle and was named as one of HPCWire’s “People to Watch in 2005. Prior to Berkeley Lab, Bill worked at the NASA Ames Research Center, the University of Delaware and Inland Steel Company. |

Bob is an ESG analyst focusing on storage management software, infrastructure, managed services and business continuance.
Prior to joining ESG, Bob was director of marketing for CentrePath, a software and services company focused on data center networking solutions. Bob managed the development of the CentrePath core services, including its remote management offering and professional services. Additionally, Bob was responsible for product marketing and management for the CentrePath cross domain event correlation software solution. During his tenure, he ran product marketing, business development, services and sales operations. Before CentrePath, Bob held a variety of domestic and international marketing, product management and sales roles at a number of technology and service vendors.
Bob has a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from the College of the Holy Cross.

Marty began his career in computing, working at Nielsen Media Research in 1984 as an Assembler Programmer/Analyst on the mainframe. In time, Marty moved into the PC and Open Systems arena, working on development teams for data collection and data delivery. Marty lead the introduction of enterprise mail service, Unix servers, IP networking, and Internet connectivity at Nielsen Media Research. Currently, Marty is working for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), as the Application Hosting Lead for North America, supporting the Nielsen company, one of TCS’s largest clients.
