This session provides a vendor and technology neutral, non-biased look at current issues and challenges involving IT Data Center power, cooling and related environmental issues.  There are many different dimension to green storage and data infrastructure topics some more pressing and applicable than others.  A review of common issues as well as some approaches to address these challenges will be covered to help identify and separate hype from reality. 

As a result of attending this session, attendees will be able to:  

• Recognize green marketing stories and differentiate them from solutions for particular power or cooling challenges  * Compare and contrast different approaches to reduce cooling and power demands, or to enhance performance, availability, capacity and energy effectiveness to meet particular needs
• Assess various techniques that include improving cooling effectiveness, reducing power consumption as well as best practices design and techniques for data footprint reduction, consolidation and power reduction by improving performance
